Mobile Bomas on the Move

28th March 2017Latest NewsBy Brigitte le Roux
Loading mobile bomas from truck to boat

Making use of mobile rhino bomas is a first in the Botswana wildlife industry; especially as these mobile bomas had to be specifically created to cater for their very special guests as well as the unique environmental conditions that exist within Botswana.

Critical to our Rhinos Without Borders project, the actual manufacturing of these sheet steel bomas is a considerable job – one that Kovango Engineering metal fabricators, based in Maun, successfully achieved.

Once loaded onto the three, seven ton trucks they were ready to begin their journey into the remote wilderness regions of Botswana – their journey complicated by interesting terrain; needing to maneuver around natural potholes as well as being transferred onto large barges to negotiate the region’s waterways.
